The Byzantine and Christian museum features historical items and art. It has one of the finest collections of Catholic art in the world. Even their less sophisticated Byzantine pieces are like nothing you will see elsewhere. It is not very well laid out, but it is not very big, so you will be able to dart from one area to another in order to see it all. A visit will take you around two hours because there is an underground section that expands the tour.

Finding The Byzantine and Christian museum

You may get off the Metro at Evangelismos station and walk to the museum. You may take trolley route 3, 7, 8, 13 if you get off at the Rigillis stop. You may also take trolley route 10 if you get off at the Ethniko Idryma Ereunon stop.

Helpful Information

Much of the art is early Christian work that is both unique and oddly fascinating. If you have kids or teenagers, then two hours is as long as you need. If you enjoy art, then plan for a good four hours and really examine the Christian and Byzantine art. Look for vertical banner signs outside when trying to find the museum.
